I haven't made a post in a few weeks, but I've been trying to focus a lot of attention to the $40.00 Glitz and Glam Photoshoot Sessions that I'm a part of on Oct. 8, 2011. But I do want to check in and let everyone know about a few things I have been doing and some new steps I'm taking. But I'd like some feedback from you all, so please leave comments or shoot me e-mails with any ideas or helpful tips you may have.
As you may know from the last post, I'm really working on getting this Glitz and Glam session going, and hoping it's something that can happen monthly if not more often. Its really meant to provide people with head shots for personal or business use at a very low price, with some of the proceeds going to local charities. If you are interested in the Oct. 8th session, remember you must RSVP and pay your money by Oct. 5th, next Wednesday, so read the Glitz and Glam post on how to do so.
Also, I've been focusing a lot more on weddings and events; the structure, the planning, the execution, and I've joined a number of groups that will help me in that transition. No, I'm not going to stop shooting fashion and glamour, that's almost my "First Photography Love", so my heart will always be there, but I truly want to grow my business, and weddings and large events are the way to go.
I've recently done a few class reunions, wedding anniversaries and birthday parties, as well as the weddings I did over the summer but I'm wanting to continue that trend and reaching out to people that normally wouldn't think to use a photographer. I'm in the process of working with the wedding planner I have now, Savoir-Faire Event Planning and Management, as well as meeting other vendors through WeddingWire.com and Wish Upon A Wedding.
WeddingWire is great for vendors because it allows the internet space to market and advertise as well as meet other vendors that can refer your services. Wedding planners and often brides will utiliize the site first to find vendors. To my understanding, they've recently joined with Brides.com along with a number of other wedding sites to help expand the client netowrk. I've networked with quite a few people online and in person through their networking events.
Wish Upon A Wedding is a non-profit organization that grants "wishes" to couples wanting to get married but may not be able to fund them because of a terminal illness in the family or a disability. So they locate vendors who are willing to donate their services to give these individuals the opportunity to have a grand wedding.
That is where I've been lately, behind the scenes networking, working on a [possible] YouTube Channel, and building my brand. Also, I'm taking a short course with the Durham Chamber of Commerce that teaches about online marketing and business expansion. So I'm doing a lot of behind the scenes work right now, but I'm still actively shooting and doing sessions. There are a lot of you out there I'm still waiting to hear back from - "Ahem", but I know in time it'll all come together.
So that's what's going on since I've been a little ghost lately.
Please leave comments let me know some things that you all may be interested in me doing or tips and other businesses that could be helpful.
Thank you all.
